Have heard about a green (latex?) surface as being ideal for look & sound deadening…?

Nothing really deadens sound. Railways are noisy places.

The whole allure of 3 rail, is the superb noise of running trains. Why on earth, would you wish to deaden this.

Perhaps ‘deadening’ was the wrong word…. saw it recommended as a green surface on Ply……..

Keep the sound bottle it, and sell it. Tis a thing of beauty, and will not re appear.

I just paint the ply with any emulsion paint I have then add other suitable colours where required. The more money you save on paint the more you have to spend on trains. You need a surface that will take glue. :D

i have never pinned or glued my 3 rail track. Its heavy enough to stay in place, in my view. I did once try some landscaping, so some of my track, has green sides. Problem with fixing, is that your first attempt, is never satisfactory. In my case, my 75th attempt, still is not. Fiddling with the layout/ set up, is biggest part of my pleasure. Hence, you are never bored.

As a newbie to 3 rail…. I’m still confused about how an insulation rail works..? Is an isolation rail the same? Am often finding I’ve caused a short circuit somewhere for no apparent reason; could be points or straight/curved rail. Could be loco too?
