RIAT 2023
RIAT 2023
Hi
Anyone visiting?
We had a Saturday entry and enjoyed the days events.
First time back since the early 2000s when the B2 made its inaugural appearance, which was incredible.
Taken lots of pics and videos of the day.

Long time since we went. We saw the B2 as well. So secret then it flew all the way from the US, did one pass and flew straight back without touching down. The last time we went was the fnal year XH558 vulcan appeared before it was grounded. Great show but a pig to get in and out of.

Re: RIAT 2023
Always went to RIAT since it started at Greenham Common but not longer attend. After the 7th F16 display I longed for the days when air forces flew different types.
First time the B2 visited the UK was to Farnborough. Much to the annoyance of the USAF it was tracked from the west coast of Ireland over Holland and into Farnborough by an Army Rapier team on Salisbury Plain.

I went twice when it was held at Greenham Common (just up the road). They used to have a "Star of the Show" aircraft, and on my two visits the Stars were, the F4 Phantom and the C-130 Hercules - they flew in from all around the world - there were some tremendous colour schemes.

A great aircraft the Hawker Hunter. Many people don't realise that they formed 111 Squadrons "Black Arrows" aerobatic team before the Red Arrows team were formed in 1964.

They also formed the Blue Diamonds. Do you remember The Flying Tigers Lightning display team, now they were spectacular.

And they became the Red Arrows. Anybody remember Simons Circus? They were my favourites.

Re: RIAT 2023
yes we were there that year, was early 2000s, from memory it was flanked by 2 F-16 Fighting Falcons and I remember how quiet the crowd went as it did the fly past. I'll try to find and scan my phots and post here.teedoubleudee wrote: ↑Sun Jul 16, 2023 8:09 amLong time since we went. We saw the B2 as well.
