WW1 something of interest

Came across this last week in France. Half brother of the Reverend W Awdry.

The war not three weeks old.

Yes the cemetery was full of stones with the same date.

It is connected with the retreat from Mons. First battle of The Great War.

must have been kinda hot. 37 here today. Terrible loss of life so early in the war. Do you still go every year.

Yes every year.

The BEF retreated 200 miles fighting all the way and it was very hot. Once they got to the Marne Valley region they regrouped and caused the Germans to divert from taking Paris so the end result was good.
