Expensive day

Given the price of insurance for two pups (£70/month) we opted to put a wedge in a high interest account for them instead, then draw on it as necessary for bigger vets bills, if there is anything other than bigger.
One of them decided to go off-colour in year one and after numerous tests and meds including a reaction to one med requiring a £500 overnight stop for observation, they still never found out what the actual problem was, but that had taken a large chunk out of the doggie fund. Fortunately that has been the one and only dip into it so far. They are 3 years old now so the insurance premiums we would have paid exceed the spend to date.
Tyres are another necessary evil. Don’t even start about dentistry costs.

vets are very good here. If you pay cash, they drop vat. Its £30 for a visit/claw clip/ general check up. £15, for Rabies/ tick injection. Been very happy with doggie care. Tyres much cheaper having sold Discovery, and of course No car tax, and mot every 2 years.

I don't have vets bills, not having a cat, dog or other animal saves me a fortune, I can see. Not having a wife or children saves another huge chunk of money!
I do have 2 cars, both fairly new so don't cost much except for servicing and tyres.

However, I do have an expensive hobby!

(Probably counts as two!). Model railways and buying model railway bits on *bay and Amazon!

Ian, have you Tried. Gumtree. My lad, buys from there b, fairly often, at good prices.

I have had a look at it and I don't think it is anyway as good as E bay. Much more limited. But I don't think Ebay is the cheapest place to buy stuff. In fact you have to be careful you don't get ripped off on ebay .

New boiler being fitted today, oh happy days.

Is it a Heat pump one. Big problems here with Heat pumps. Those who were conned into them, find they are not as warm, and more expensive to run. I had a new boiler adaption, fitted 2 years ago. Plumber, not prepared to discuss heat pumps. Said we were too rural , and saving if any, would not justify the cost. We are burning less oil, and rads are hotter.

Next 2 weeks here are quite cold. If you are the same, its come, just in time. Agree about Heat pumps.
