Austin Cambridge was the 1st car i drove, not legally i might say. It was Dads, & he took me to what was the old RAF Hendon before it became a housing estate when i was 13 for my 1st few times at driving. But my 1st car was a Ford Anglia 1200 super that i got off my brother. The most comfortable early car i had was an Austin 2000 or 2002, this was the make, not the year, very smooth ride.

Hello Brian if you owned 5000 cars in in your life time you must have been car dealing. Bet you did not drive most of them. John

Yes John i was a motor trader ( trade not retail ) and yes i did drive everyone. A lot of people do not realise that main dealers and indies have to get stock from somewhere. I was one of the few back in the day when the job was good and very lucrative. :)

I worked as second job while in Fire Service with friend. He bought cars and I got them ready for sale, and I had different cars every week. I did not have to buy one for years, and got paid when he sold them. Happy times they were. We used to do a lot of Mercs and BMWs. We did not deal with as many as you did though.

Early days
1936 SingerBantam
1947 Sunbeam Talbot
19?? Zephyr 6
1955 Morris Minor

Overseas
19?? Hillman Imp
1967 Toyota Corolla

1970s
Toyota Carina
VX Victor Est
VX Cavalier Sports hatch

1980s
Volvos x many

Etc.

That’s my list. My missus has a list almost as long starting with Triumph Heralds and Moggies, then newer VX Nova, Astra, Cavalier sports models, then newer Fords, Nissans, etc. She has a full bike licence, but I have to ride the tiddlers as I never took the test even though I learnt on a BSA 250 Scrambler in a local field.

Not to mention the caravans....

I would hate to add up all the money poured down the car drain.
