Bench vice - Aldi
Bench vice - Aldi
Latest DIY offer from Aldi - a couple of small bench vices. There is one with a clamp for fixing to the side of the bench but I chose the suction version as my painting station has a Perspex top for easy cleaning - suits this version perfectly.
Currently on offer at £5.99

Re: Bench vice - Aldi
I got the suction version sometime back but found out unless you had a glass or equally smooth surface it eventually came off and I was trying to secure it on what I thought was a smooth varnished desk top.
Got the edge clamp version next time round and although it is not the most accurate in the sense of quite a bit of slack in the mechanism it grips well and done everything required of it.

I found exactly the same as TD - the suction didn't suck enough, the edge clamp wasn't as large and had some slack until tightened up.

Mind you. For the price you can drill holes and screw it to a bench.

Re: Bench vice - Aldi
It’s not the Aldi version, but I do have a small vice bolted to my bench in the railway shed, but as I said in post#1, the suction version is perfect for my application as my paint bench has a sheet of Perspex for a top.

The suction version works well on the wooden table I have tried it on - by the very nature of the device it will not work on a rough surface and the trick is to move the lever roughly half way not all the way

I too have had the the edge clamp version for a number of years and can't fault it. Very handy bit of kit.

Re: Bench vice - Aldi
I’ve got the Lidl version and drilled holes for screws as the suction base was useless.
