Thanks all. Have been experimenting and am pleased with the results esp. paprika, cayenne pepper and mixed herbs. I realise my first attempts using a polyfibre type 'mat' was far too heavy. Have now invested in my own cheap herbs and spices since er indoors caught me using her expensive shwartz. The garage has been cold these last two nights. Scheduled to move back into the official doghouse today!

Reminds me of the times I've used toothpaste to polish out scratches in clear plastic windows and canopies - works well and the model has a lovely minty smell afterwards.

Yup, herbs and spices are deffo the way to go - there are lots of colours and textures, especially to represent autumn - and they are not as 'heavy' as some autumn scatters you can buy. The smell soon goes once they are exposed to the atmosphere.

When 'the boss' bought some 'decent herbs' (as she put it), she told me to throw out the 'Supermarket rubbish'.

As they make great ground cover, my layout is covered in mixed herbs.
