The other unmentioned show hazard is the amateur photographer. He usually comes equipped with the statutory rucksack on his back with his camera with telephoto lens strapped to chest so as he turns he gets you with both.
However he really comes to the fore when at a layout. Once he gets his eye up to the view finder he becomes totally oblivious as to whose feet he is standing on as he jiggles left and right for the perfect shot. Once he is in position for that close up shot all sense of personal space is lost as he becomes totally unaware whose face his elbows are in or whose view he is blocking.

I wonder if this sort of person does any modelling themselves or are they just wannabes.

The misuse of electric buggies isn't confined to Warley, model railway (or other) exhibitions either.
Try visiting Benidorm! Despite rules that allow only the elderly and disabled to officially hire and drive them they're a menace at times. So much so that many hotels have banned them even in what was their parking places.
My wife has to use an electric scooter because she was poisoned by the Novichok nerve agent and is unable to walk more than a few paces.
She has taken out insurance to ride it.
I bet not many other riders of electric scooters have insurance.

Provided you stick to the rules when you hire one abroad, the hire fee includes 3rd party insurance as well as theft and injury and/or damage to the scooter.
I agree, if it is to be treated like a motor vehicle it should be registered and insured. I'd go as far as the driver should have a licence, even if it is only a licence to drive the scooter because of medical conditions or poor eyesight preventing a car or motorbike licence.

I am very glad that I am not the only ‘anti anorak man’ at exhibitions.
Speaking of the electric buggies, I thought I had seen it all a couple of years ago on holiday in sunny Spain
- a tandem one for him & her (or other arrangement as preferred).

I think it’s a pity it has got far too big.

Not sure about the size? I have always enjoyed a day at the NEC.
But I do fully understand their reasons for cancelling
My own clubs September 2021 local expo has been cancelled too. A serious loss of revenue to the club now for two years running.
Hopefully, and roll on 2022, when things can only get better!!
