I find it hard to believe that cruises are still going ahead at present.
I no longer work in the docks so can't give chapter and verse. However most, if not all, cruise ships sailing are heading for 'lay up', one at Portland, another at Dover. A further ship is laying up near the Nab. Southampton port is too busy to allow too many to lay up and block berths.

Cruise ships are laying up near to where they hope to start cruising again once things return to normal. Those in the Caribbean have (or are) moving away from the area before the 'hurricane season'. They also will lay up near to their next cruising port.
Those on their World Cruises can call at a port only to refuel and resupply, so they can return home. No passengers are allowed to disembark.

There are two BA "rescue flights" approaching Peru - both took off from Gatwick about thirty minutes apart this morning.

I had enough of cruising in the 'Grey Funnel' line!
Modern cruise liners are just mobile blocks of flats - ugly things.

There are people who boarded cruise ships at the beginning of
January on World Cruises who are not due back to the UK until April or May.
I'll say no more otherwise this thread could be blocked.
Fortunately we did our World Cruise a few years back.

Hello Glencairn my remark about people traveling . I did not mean people who were on ships in January. I was referring to people who are thinking of booking up more recently times like even now.

No offence taken, Sandy.
A number of ships started their journey well before the outbreak.
I am glad I am not on P&O ship Arcadia at this moment. Since Fremantle (Perth, Australia) beginning of March, the ship has been denied entry to any of its scheduled ports. The last being Cape Town. At present Arcadia is heading north in the Atlantic off Namibia. Her next port of call is Tenerife, which will be denied. When they arrive in Southampton in April (hopefully) her 100 day cruise will have been mainly at sea.

Should have been going to Norway on the brand new ship Iona this Saturday, We received a cheque in the post today with repayment for the cancelled cruise due to Covid and I believe the ship is still in Germany being fitted out and not ready for cruising yet.

We should be in Norway now,(but for Covid 19). Seeing Iona is a no-no now.

Apparently the Port of Tyne say that P & O cruise ship Oceana is to remain on the Tyne until September.
