My layout
Re: My layout
Yes Roger B I need to remove the columns with a fine craft knife then turn them around so the top bracket is flush with the side and reset them. When positioned on the central platform the columns will be about 26 mill in from each edge. In scale they will then be just over 6 feet in from the edges which I hope will be safer for the passengers.

Re: My layout
Dug into the embankment today and had a go at making a dummy tunnel, it needs painting and work on the banking to blend it into the brick work. The line coming out of the tunnel is a bit of a tight bend but if I just leave an unused train on it I think it will be ok.I had a few bits of retaining wall left over so thought I would have a go at using them up. I still have not fixed the back scenes yet they are just standing up with a bit of blue tack, still have lots to do.

Getting on with the tunnel. After fixing the track it needs a Little more paint, some grass and ballast. I need sone advice. Do I ballast before grass or grass before ballast, are there any guidelines?

Re: My layout
Wow, that’s a lot of...the DC split is a great idea. It would keep several operator’s like so many jugglers spinning plates. I have contemplated going (back) into DCC on Henley, but me every time I read the DCC thread it appears to go something like this:
Tooth Fairy: my bloody train won’t run, but when it does it is usually when the first phase of the moon on the second Tuesday of every three and a half months. Advice please.
Frosted Flakes: well, my dear Tooth Fairy, the answer is quite simple, we’re you not such a block head. It is merely necessary to refragmatize the 2 jiggawatt diode to the third terminal post found in the second elephantine speedometer. Three turns to the left, and the higher the fewer. Works all the time for me, don’t understand what all the fuss is about.
Seriously, split DC is useful, except for cornfield meets.

Re: My layout
Thank you chops really made me smile.l could have gone digital from the start but wanted the task of keeping six locos on the same line not running into each other by manual control rather like running a real railway.
As well as having eight different controlled sections to speed up or slow down a loco I can stop a train at the station then switch points which will isolate it and the following trains will pass down the other side of the platform.
I also put in a panic button which will isolate everything when I totally loose the plot, which I must admit has been used a few times while learning how it all works.

Now the weather has changed I am out of the garden and doing some work on the layout. I have put up and fixed some of the back scenes today only five more three foot lengths to go.
