Hi,

Its been a while since I posted an update but been tied up with business, holidays and playing trains etc...….however work on the layout has started again and I have hardly any business travel thru August, so hope to make major progress and get the station area completed at last.

Over the last week or so and after very much thought, I started work on the ramp down from my bridge which will lead to a level crossing over the branch line and a road way around to the road tunnel under the bridge which leads on to the station forecourt. When I bought the Connor's bridge kit from "inthegreenwoodlaser" ( no connection other than a satisfied customer), I cocked up the dimensions when I tried to reduce the height and so I had to buy a second one - how I cursed at the time, but actually all the pieces from the original have come in very handy to construct the ramp ( especially the road surfaces and the flexible tunnel roof material).

I wanted to post the attached photos now to show it still as WIP, but my plan is to cover it with the stone paper used for my retaining walls and add a nice road surface - lots of filling and sanding first......…..Now I know the ramp is a tad steep, but like almost everything on my layout it is a compromise with the space available - hopefully once the road surface, vehicles and adjacent trees etc are added, it will not look so bad.

Hi,

Haven't posted anything for a while, but made good progress with my bridge the past couple of days and although still lots to do, I am pretty pleased with how it is shaping up.

Still need to landscape where the trees have just temporarily been situated, build a set of steps down from the bridge to the station ( that is why there is a hole in the bridge parapet - definitely H&S issue at the moment), and then think about how I develop the station forecourt and the entrance to the newly constructed Motorail terminal...…..very pleased that some simple detailing has transformed the basic Hornby car ramp and think once I get security fencing and floodlights etc, this will be quite cool...…...Managed to squeeze this in by changing my branch-line a little and have been able to get two short sidings which will hold two motorail car flats each, or can double up as a loco stabling point as per the attached pictures.

Want to also fit streetlights and a set of traffic lights to allow single lane traffic under the bridge to the station forecourt - have laid a little island for the traffic light just beyond the bus stop...…..must say I love the Busch Cycle lanes which just bring a different feel to things as well as being easy to work with and fab for covering over the joins / edges of my road surface.

Anyway - hope you enjoy the pictures with a few of my favourite pre-BR Blue diesels......as always any feedback and comments most appreciated as I am still learning with this hobby all the time.

Had my first go at creating and adding flowers etc using a frozen crayon shaving technique that I picked up from another forum...……..pretty pleased with the results...…..anybody got any experience / tips on how best to create climbing plants as I think my bridge parapets might look better with some subtle greenery ?

Climbing greenery - I find that carefully applying small amounts of glue with a paintbrush then sprinkling with Woodland Scenics flock powders works well. But practice first.

Brilliant! Much more realistic than a lot of ready-to-plant (!) products, which tend to be a bit gaudy. IMO.
