Change of car? Maybe.
Re: Change of car? Maybe.
Parking lights? I didnt know cars still had them. Wonder where mine are? R-
Young at heart. Slightly older in other parts.

Yep, absolute waste of space.
I think it maybe down to the original design brief. Ford of Europe just wanted to facelift the original Kuga but Ford in the USA demanded a car they could sell all over the world. I would guess that in some markets those lights are a requirement.
The result is the Mk2 with unnecessary and unservicable lights.
Another thing I learnt , when they built the Mk1 it was based on the Focus estate but they actually designed it to be bigger than the Focus on the outside but smaller on the inside..
That takes some doing.

AFAIK parking lights are still required in the UK if you park on the road where the speed limit is over 30mph

Re: Change of car? Maybe.
On my Volvo XC70, as with most Volvo's the headlights are on all the time once the car is started. You can of course turn them off, but if you do, the side lights remain on - even after you have turned the engine off, locked the car and gone home - end result a flat battery. So the moral to this is - if you own a Volvo leave the light switch turned on.

Re: Change of car? Maybe.
Is in the highway code. Other things like you must pull in if you see a convenient location if you are slower then the other traffic. (Can't remember the exact wording), and horses and bicycles must have lights at night, and pedestrians walking in a road without streetlights must wear bright coloured or reflective clothes, and groups of people walking in a non streetlamp lit area must have a red rear light and a white front light. Lots of rules which people ignore.
Budget modelling in 0-16.5...
Re: Change of car? Maybe.
The Highway Code in its entirety is not ‘law’. There is a differentiation between ‘must’ and ‘should’.
Roger’s parking light rule is a ‘must’ but the one about pedestrian clothing is a ‘should’, therefore only advisory.
And I am ashamed to admit that I genuinely did not know the parking light rule - maybe I should buy an up to date copy and have a read.

On some cars if you leave the indicator stick in the turn position when you leave the car with lights off then it will light one side (back and front) only, depending which way you put the stick in. I think you only need to have the side nearest the middle of the road on eg if parked with passenger side to kerb, put indicators to right turn position.

Indicators? What are they for?

All cars except BMWs and Audis have them - must be a German thing
