I went last year, small by some standards but very good. Strange set up with half the hall a railway ex and the other half people playing badminton!

My take on this is without support it's unlikely to grow but more likely to die. It's my local show so will be attending again this year. Thanks for the reminder, now in my diary.

This is my local show also, so I am looking forward to it and hope it will be well attended, - the last one I went to was held at the Gaywood Church Hall, and that was very good.

Assuming they have to pay to hire the hall, how else are they going to pay for it?

Years ago many things we visited were all free to get in assuming there was trade stands selling things. This was also the same with country fairs & alike. The reason being that the trade stands would cover these costs. Now the organisers want money from both ends & seriously push it to the ridiculous. Our local steam rally land owners wanted to nearly double the entry cost for visitors & many trade & people showing their machines said they would pull out. The land owners back off & did it at the last years prices of £7.00 I must admit that if i had got there & the entry had doubled, i would have turned around & walked. Now, the kings lynn model train fair is a 1 hour maximum look around & maybe a purchase. Yet i get nearly a day's full pleasure at my local steam rally with much more going on for £7.00 & only an hour for £5.00 at my local train club/fair.
Another good example was a friend that enquire about the Sandringham country fair to have his very nice burger van there at Easter, the price they wanted was £1200.00 for the four days. If it had rained, he wouldn't get his money back & could cost him more. "He did not risk it" It turned out a good/bad move, because the weather was great & the organisers were taking bookings for the following year at a discount at the same price if you pay now. The next year, it bucketed down all weekend. So, he would have just about covered costs but no wages for 8 days work.
At the end of the day, people like councils/health & safety are creating the problems & organisers are just jumping on the band wagon & getting greedy & taking advantage.
