8 pin decoder

Hi

A 8 pin direct decoder has “blown” and needs replacing, I have somewhere an 8 pin harness decoder, can I use that to replace the other one. I have space in the loco tender to install it.

The 8 pin decoders with the plugs are the same as the older soldered in decoders as long as they have wires coming from them. The key wires you need are remembered by the following rhyme:

Red and black, to the track.
Orange and grey the other way! (To the motor).
