My wife renewed ours today - previous supplier wanted to nearly double what they charged us last year and weren’t bothered if we left. Surely keeping the price the same would have guaranteed them some income. The theory is you forget to renew and then they tie you in for another year. Went with EE as they were cheapest on comparison site followed by John Lewis.

You're unlikely to find any other supplier that can match VM's max speed as they are FTTH rather than FTTC. (I think I got the abbreviations right!)

If speed isn't crucial to you (ie you don't view much YTube or catch-up videos or similar), then shop around. I'm with TalkTalk but until you have a problem you never know how good they are going to be. A friend had a lot of problems with TT getting his home phone number back (he failed), but that was about 5 yrs ago.

Think carefully how you view your TV programs (eg catch-up or downloaded) and what use you make of the internet

We’ve had many discussions on here about the best broadband provider and generally everybody has their favourite and says it is the best, and everybody else says oh you don’t want to be with them, I was 2 years ago and it cost £500 a month and a week to download Holby City. :D

I left Sky after 22 years and went back to BT which is now 18 months on and if I feel I need to d/l rubbish such as Holby City it takes less than 3 minutes :D

We have been with BT for years, we have only had one problem with the incoming cable and it was fixed within 3 hrs, fella down a manhole fixed it :!:
Line speed is very good, the only time it does slow down is when the schools let the kids out and they all access the net at same time :D :)

We have used AOL, for last 25 years, without any problems. Speed is compatible with anybody else, and we pay £24 month, but that includes all international phone calls.

Virgin media 100Mb plus fibre and phone line with anytime calls and not had any issues at all (so far!). Probably not the cheapest, but I've no intention of moving to a copper wire based internet connection and lose about 1/2 to 3/4 of the speed!

Would you believe it. Original provider rang today re: our change of broadband/phone provider and offered us a cheaper deal - saving over £180 Against what they have been charging us. These firms just take the p**s at every opportunity, and if they can rip you off they will do so. Luckily lockdown has given my wife time to shop around.
