Thanks Platelayer. Funny how we remember WW1 and 2 as being in black and white.

True, my niece used to refer history to my father as, " the black and white days".Walkingthedog wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 8:54 am Thanks Platelayer. Funny how we remember WW1 and 2 as being in black and white.

Thanks Platelayer. A lovely show.
It also took me back to my boyhood in the 1950s. So much has changed since the war and the 1950s were close enough to the war for little to have changed between the war and the 50s. I suppose the war is only just fading from living memory and the 1950s are nearly a lifetime away too..

A fine tribute to this bastion of democracy. A resolute people establishing a bulwark against

Ha ha, your phrase "bastions of democracy" just gave me my first smile of the day Chops. Only two days ago I was listening to my Tom Lehrer albums and he used that term to describe the boys scouts of America in his rendition of "Be Prepared". Very funny man.

I read a little history, so I’m not willing to admit to senility, yet. However, a quick glance about the globe, moreover with the other players of the day, Britain looks pretty good. Not every British activity has been unvarnished benevolence, obviously, but there are mechanisms in its rule of law to address inequities, even if it takes generations. The other governments of the season had absolutely zero in the category of redressment. Absolutely zed. I don’t think I may be completely out of my chicken coop. Although a resident of the USA, I retain my Canadian citizenship, and thus remain a subject of the Crown.

Thank you Chops. Can’t say I blame you hanging on to your Canadian citizenship.
