I'm a bit older than that being 17 at this time. Although living in London we'd gone to stay with friends in Wiltshire over Xmas and were then stranded for several days before we could get back to London. You don't get snow like that these days now ....

I was fifteen and living in London, but had spent Christmas with friends in Essex - I recall the snow started falling on Boxing Day.

I'm somewhere in-between Platelayer and RFS as in 1962-3 winter I was 8 going on 9. Here in the NE I remember the local news (Look North) on BBC showing it's reporters walking over the tops of cars level with the top of stone wall tops that were very high, probably in the region of 10ft or more.

Winters aren't as bad as before, but also cars are much more able to cope with modern technology and roads are cleared more too.

The cars have improved, but people seem not to. They see a bit of adverse weather these day, rain snow etc and lock themselves
away till it`s gone away. Back in the day folks just put there " Big coat on" and just got on with it!

I totally agree - and more than a light covering in the south of England (usually near London) then it is headline news on the TV and in the press. 5-6 inches in the north of England or Scotland barely gets a mention.

Not sure I agree with that. We have lots of coverage of floods and snow affecting the north and Scotland. What is it with this North/South thing. All in the mind as far as I am concerned.

They have plenty of snow in Finse, Norway - perhaps we could borrow some. Camera seems to be playing up - it could be the snow?

It exists, but if you live in the South, you won't notice it.
