Hi,
Been taking a break from my railway for most of the Summer months but now that it is starting to get darker at night, I am again drawing up plans for the next stage of my layout build.
I now have clarity on what I want to do to finish the build at least, but as has been the case in the past, I require to go backwards and rip up a couple of bits in order to go forward, but I will save that for another day.
I have been busy during the summer and have bought a small holiday flat in the Scottish coastal village of Tighnabruaich, which is only about 30 miles from my main home as the crow flies, but feels like a different world. As alway some DIY work required and have spent the last two weekends painting first the outside of the building, and then lounge and bedroom this past weekend. During a rest break on Saturday, I heard what sounded like the puff-puff of a Steam train but then it quickly dawned on me that it was the sound of paddle wheels and that meant the “Waverley” was approaching...... the last sea-going passenger carrying paddle steamer in the world and a sight to behold.
I will post more on my layout as my plans develop, but don’t hold your breath.
Hope everybody is well and enjoying their railways.
Cheers - Richard

Been on that. As a teenager, i stayed at Rothsey, and bought a Steamer run about ticket, for the week. Went to where your new flat is, Isle of Arran. Spent a glorious week, ship hopping.
