Post by tommyrob123 »

hi, just changed over to peco n scale. however if i change points direction i lose power to that section of track. power returns when i switch points back. i know I've gone wrong somewhere. do i need to put clips in like the ones on hornby points and if so where can i get them. cheers to all

The points are self isolating so the route that is not set no longer has any power on the rail leading from the frog. If its losing power on the route it is set for then there is something wrong.

hi thanks. is there anyway round this or do i need to use power leads to every offshoot. heard that using a staple works much like the hornby points clips.

Power leads will be best.

Only one rail loses power when the points are changed so in theory you only need supply power to that rail.

Just the inside rails, the ones attached to the frog.

You may also want to add a On /Off switch in each new feed to allow total isolation of the set direction regardless of the points position. :)

Why would you want a train to move in a fiddle yard with the points set against it?
