Moving house

#1

Post by RAF96 »

Well it looks like it will be 3rd week in July. Going from a house to a bungalow because as age creeps up the stairs will win out over the legs.
The bonus is the garage is integral with the house thus more accessible than the current detached train room-converted garage and it is 3ft longer and 1ft wider.
The house now resembles an Amazon warehouse as we await the solicitors to sort out the final paperwork.
Train-set is packed up ready to go.

I'm in the same position - except the garage is now not integral to the house. My layout, such that it was, is now also packed up to go and the boards dismantled, track removed and wiring 'stored'.

I also await vendor and solicitors to do their thing so I can get moved into the new bungalow. Good luck with the move!

Unfortunately I will be leaving my patch of plastic grass and taking on a much larger field to mow. New mower required.

Looks like an ideal location for an outdoor garden railway :)

Haha - Don't even think about a garden railway. Domestic Authorities would throw a strop. Having been confined to a small garden she is looking forward to knocking this one into shape. O gauge or bigger would be handy for fetching beer out tho' 🆒🍺🚂🔁
There are 2 sheds, the large one is in good nick and will be her workshop and the small one to the very left is knackered and destined for the tip.
Biggest challenge initially will be securing egress by the dogs.

Good luck with the move, and there is room for your own large outbuilding should you need to expand

Yes, I would get the same reaction from my household planning authorities too!

Hope the move goes well.

Although my wife is disabled, we took a different approach.
We had a elevator installed.
She can now access all parts of the house much easier than before.
The grandchildren can (and do) stay over.
The layout does not have to be dismantled.
