I am quite new to DCC. A simple question . Is the Hornby Saphire decoder suitable for Bachmann class 37 model 32-377a or any suggestion

gratefully received. Thanks

The Zimo MX638D is a better decoder than the Lenz and also much cheaper at £20.

Certainly not worth £42.99 as Hornby seem to think it is - have a few picked a few up around £30 less in sales. As a decoder it seems okay but their is a distinct lack of explanation over the CVs and it was left to the former Hornby International importer to provide some limited guidance.

I would even suggest that the £9.99 LAISDCC decoder is better than the Hornby, are they still using super fragile wires that fall of the decoder just from taking it from it's packaging ;)

Sapphire decoder is essentially a 21-pin decoder so no wires to fall off. The removeable 8-pin convertor harness is robust.

I've used a few Hornby Sapphire Decoder's and never had an issue with them. However, I was fortunate enough to get them for £15 each from one of the Hornby warehouse sales which sadly are no more :(
