Cobalt Digital Point motor problem.

#1

Post by bulleidboy »

I think I might have had this problem about ten years ago when I setting up my layout, but cannot remember how to rectify the problem

When I turn the layout power on, one of my DCC Cobalt Digital iP point motors starts to operate and continues back and forth until I turn the power off. All of my Cobalts were wired for both DCC operation (through my Hornby Elite) and toggle switch. I have now removed the toggle switch wiring. This particular point motor is one of two on a cross-over, so both have the same address - the other one is fine. Any ideas?

I think I have solved the problem :). The two wires from the toggle switch were still connected to the point motor, the other end, now disconnected from the toggle switch, were making contact with one another and therefore operating the point motor continuously. The toggle switch was a on-off-on (sprung to centre), so normally only required a momentary contact to operate the motor. All surplus wire now removed.
