I’m not aware of anyone going down that route but given that a compatible Hornby PSU is under £60 I can’t see what benefit would be gained, except maybe in a garden layout.
As for your last but one sentence - dangerous ground. :D

I prefer DC as am one of those modellers who started off with DC, went full out into DCC and later due to budgeting circumstances and due to missing DC wiring and operation so much (Love the feel of "Clunky" switches), that I had to go back to DC! But hey! Both are good! Both have a place!...

Thanks to Ians, Davy Crockett has been flying round the Super 4 track today, amazing for a 60yr old loco, any one tried baby oil in the smoke unit ?.

Hornby HM2000 twin track controller has a maximum current to track per output of 550 milliamps (just a little over 1/2 Amp). No guarantee other than when new. Gaugemaster DC controllers cased versions. e.g. Model D offer 1.0Amp per output to track minimum. Both offer uncontrolled 12 volt DC and 16 v...

When coming across YT articles regards layouts if the term “railroad” is used I generally assume it is a US layout.

I have always considered that if anything refers to railroad it isn’t in the UK.
