Re: Wiring - Needing Help With Something Which Should be Simple!

Thanks jamespetts, that does indeed seem to be the problem. I've given the top of the tracks a rub with one of those things which look like a big blue eraser and that has improved the issue, though not completely fixed it. I think I need to clean down the inside of the rails too. Is there a recommen...

Re: Wiring - Needing Help With Something Which Should be Simple!

Thank you Sandy and Brian for your responses. I did think that simply changing the points should send power into the siding; however, that just isn't happening. A loco sitting in the sidings won't move out. If I place the loco on the main track and try to reverse it into the sidings then it will rev...

Wiring - Needing Help With Something Which Should be Simple!

Hi guys, I have succeeding in putting together my 1980s 00 gauge set as a simple loop, and it works fine. I then added in several sidings on the inside of the loop; however, I cannot work out how to get power to them. As a rough description, if you imagine the loop as a clock, the sidings feed into ...

Station Design - Distance Between Tracks

Hi folks, Hope everyone's had a good week :) I'm just starting to lay some parallel tracks with the idea of slowly creating a 'station'. I see on ebay that there's various different options available for station platforms - Gaugemaster/Dapol etc. I would definitely like to eventually have some lovel...

Re: Track-Laying Newbie Stuck on Corners

Thanks for all your responses, everyone. Super helpful!

Yep, it's 00 gauge. I shall proceed with ordering myself a Tracksetta, a Xuron, and some needle files.

Much appreciated :)

Track-Laying Newbie Stuck on Corners

Hi everyone, New to this whole track-laying business and feeling like a bit of a veg to be having to ask this question, but what's the trick to laying corners correctly? First time around I thought I'd done ok, but then discovered that some of my corners were too tight, consequently all of my engine...

Re: Lack of Power

Yeah the controller does hum!

The connection is as it came out of what it was boxed up in, but I have a good de/soldering machine so I'm happy to have a fiddle about and see if that makes any difference.

If I try the other controller is it just some sort of low-voltage 2 core cable I need to buy?

Lack of Power

Hi guys, I've just assembled the track I had when I was young, which has been in storage for the last 25 years. Apologies for the stupidity of my question, but this is my first time having to worry about this stuff - it was all done for me in the past! I've built a simple loop and tried to connect i...
