Re: Metcalfe card N

The do make some nice kits that do build up well. My only gripe is that in N even though they model to 1:152 instead of the UK N Gauge scale of 1.144 which should mean the buildings are slightly too small, I find their Domestic Buildings, Houses etc to be a little oversize for UK N, their Railway bu...

Re: Sam's Model Train Review: A Parody

He can be a bit of a Marmite Guy but can also be quite honest in his reviews I was quite shocked when he did one recently on the Bachmann 9F, didn't realise it only had pickups on 4 wheels out of 10 and that there wheel axel's ran in square holes without bearings. That one made me rethink my view th...

Re: TTS 8F Sound Decoder

Ditto If you have something wrong which blow the TTS it also just as likely to blow a more expensive Zimo or ESU decoder Did you wrap the TTS decoder in insulating tape or heat shrink for insulation, if you did that likely to be the reason it failed, the TTS decoders get hot and need to be exposed t...

Re: Slow Action Point Motors

As these motors all have a lifetime warranty, why are you not returning them? :o Surely if the manufacturer finds lots of returns with the same defect they can amend their product to correct any found issues, but if they are "Binned" then they will never know and just keep making more of ...

Re: Slow Action Point Motors

One thing to watch with the Cobolts, they arrive with the mechanism set in the middle, to ease installation, and that is turned off once it's been screwed into place. If you want to move the motor to another location there are instructions to recenter the motor, of the 12 I had 6 failed to work agai...

Re: Hornby to produce model of 'Lion'

I see it as only good for the Hobby that Hornby keep doing this. It gives two price points for the same model, want a High Fidelity model then go with the Rapido version, Just want something that looks like the real thing and save enough money to buy something else, go with the Hornby Version. As we...

Re: For the railway modeller who has everything!!!!!!

They should have made them their corporate blue, that way they could have charged double that, everything DCC concepts blue is double the price or more than non blue alternatives. ;) Reminds me of the old Black Adder sketch when they whilst trying to make gold created pure Green, but in this case th...

Re: New Loco not working on programming track

Just checking the obvious

does it run ok on its default address

If not it might be something silly like the decoder has been plug in the wrong way around, easy to do with 8 pin plugs, like I said just checking the obvious ;)

Re: Graham Farish N gauge

Of all my N-Gauge models probably 90% are Modern Farish models and of those 99% have been trouble free, on the other hand most of the Dapol models have had issues and most of those issues have been on out of the box models, most suffering from one of the following and sometimes more than one, noisy ...
