Sound is on hold while I wait to hear a couple of TTS decoder due out soon. Shame that Hornby haven’t released the Fowler 2P decoder as that could have been a contender.

I’ve just tested the new J36 TTS decoder - this may be the one I’ve been looking for as a ‘generic’ northern two cylinder.
As standard it’s quite a ‘deep’ tone but that can be altered by using different speaker characteristics to thin it out a little if necessary.
More importantly, the whistle is, what my ears consider, as ‘normal’.

The memsahib suggested a day out - a long walk for the dog at Pegwell Bay and fish and chips in Ramsgate. Just happened to pass the Hornby Visitor Centre on the way home so two more J36 decoders are coming home with me. :D

Interesting chat with the shop staff - their feedback to the bosses is for the return of the online and HVC club member discount as it is a) affecting sales b) membership renewals are at an all time low and c) customers are telling them they don't want the free loco.

I agree with all three. Interesting to see what happens.
