When I had ‘sky’ tv and well before that with just a VCR, I found that I hardly ever got round to watching stuff I had recorded, so now if its not watched as and when its on I’m not fussed about going to find it again on catch up.

Out in Cyprus we had Nile-Sat as our prime satellite system but with a motorised dish it was easy to spend a day faffing about trying to find something else to watch. One thing we used to do was download (from Canadian tv) whole series of our favourite programs to a portable hard drive and fetch them back to UK with us as UK was generally airing several series behind what we had. I used to send my daughter the latest episode of Supernatural the night it had aired. She would then pass it round her mates. Of course in UK you are not allowed to download stuff like that but in Cyprus it was not banned by our ISP.

When I caravanned we had a small dish that was fairly easy to set up as the box had a signal finder in it. Handy for use on the continent to chase the Astra satellites but less use the further north you went in UK.

I have BT Sport - but as I get my broadband from BT I only pay half-price for BT Sport - we did check with SKY and BT was the cheaper option. When the SKY guy installed Q he suggested we had a booster - which he supplied - it was free in as much as the rest of the kit for the duration on the contract. BT installed a new landline into the house on Christmas Eve (four vans and six engineers - very impressive!), unfortunately the line now come into the far side of the house, rather than in the middle of the house (originally installed during house build). After a few hic-cups Q appears to be working OK.

I am going to wait until the summer before upgrading to Q. The trees will be in full leaf by then.

Sensible decision - my neighbour over the back fence cannot have SKY due to my three Lime trees - there about one hundred and thirty feet high - it's great - when in leaf I cannot see anyone over the back fence - we do get on with them ok :D
