I put the first layer of (real) ash down in the pit area at the weekend but most of it was hoovered back up, so all being well I’ll be back in there tonight and have another bash at it. I’ll post some images when I’m happier with it.

Not the best of views but just a bit of an update;

overgrowth (is that a word?) infil between the main running lines and shed access and the second attempt at laying ash. The grounded coach body is I believe an old K's kit that was just asking to be butchered. More to be done to the groundwork.



I seem to struggle to concentrate on one area of the layout and tend to flit between several projects. Tonight's was the start of a fish van loading platform and associated sheds on the goods yard side of the layout. I'll add some images when it's worth doing, white plasticard is not that photogenic.

Coming along nicely Carl.......it seems to be an inherent aspect of this hobby that drives us all to be dabbling in multiple tasks at the one time ( and making painfully slow progress as consequence - Steve M excepted of course), so pls do not think you are alone with such traits !

Fortunately, I have a part time evening job that allows plenty of time to think through problems and solutions on the layout. That’s when I’m not dealing with shoplifters.

The beginnings of the fish loading dock which should take 9 or 10 vans. There is a concrete top surface to add to the platform and a load of corrugated iron to add to the sheds. Vertical girders will support the front of the roof line. I may put longitudinal vents along the top of the ridges as per the prototype at St Andrews Dock (Fish Dock), Hull, I'm not sure on that one.
