Post by C Markey »

Hi All, I recently purchased a job lot of track and trains off a well known auction web site. cleaned up one of the locos and got it working, but I am scratching my head over the next one. I would appreciate any help. Can I remove the part in yellow !!

You could remove them but you would need to replace them with a length of wire as they are inductors (chokes) which are in series with the motor. Unless they are faulty I would leave them in.

Hi Rog, thanks for getting back, I'll give it a good cleaning and see how it go's, I do think there is a fault somewhere. I'll post back when I've had a go. Thanks again. Chris

Well, got the engine running after a lot of cleaning and freeing up the wheels, ran well for a while then ran very hot.
I removed the choke and ran a wire from pickups to engine and all seems good, it's not going to be the best runner, but for what I payed for the job lot well worth it, plus I enjoyed the experience of sorting it out. Thanks for your help. Chris
