Great modelling Carl. Love the tin roof and quay.

Looking good Carl - love the quayside and the buildings, but mind and cut a hole for the wagons to go thru on the Goods Shed - LOL.

Don't stress the timescales - I am trying to take my time and enjoy the construction as it won't last forever, honest.

Cheers - Richard

Carl, forgive me if I’ve mentioned it before. Quaysides will often have a tide mark of green algae and dark brown seaweed around the high water mark.
This picture may give an idea.

It’s quite easy to replicate in models by sprinkling dry tea leaves along a the base on a bit of PVA brushed on. If you try it go for loose leaf tea rather than bags as they tend to be full of dust.

Remarkable stuff. That green band, that is the high water mark? Brilliant.

Thanks for the positive comments.

A bit of a close up of the quay wall while the tide (PVA) was coming in! Seaweed lines are a bit too straight for my liking. And tea bags it was. Might have a play thickening it up, just looks a bit thin. Also, I need some tyres to hang off the wall.

That looks very good - I wouldn't worry about the lines being straight - the tide level would be pretty much the same twice a day.

…….says a man that has clearly never lived by the sea in Scotland, where the wind rarely keeps the water level - LOL

But surely the sea is fairly calm in a harbour due to the breakwaters.

The waterline looks great... I think the others are correct, the algae etc wouldn't always be dead straight, as bits would be knocked off by boats, tyres and the general weather etc...

Are you just using just PVA for the water, or are you going to layer it up with something?

I think straight is right. Good example of tyres as well.
