I used a Scalecast mould set for the engine sheds I built last year - very good product once you get the hang of using them. They tend to use plaster for the casts although, as you know, I preferred to use resin. Plaster may be a bit trickier to paint, maybe?
Should you decide to proceed, and go with resin, let me know and I will happily give you a few tips and a relatively inexpensive supplier of materials.
I think their wall kit is about £30 with 2kg resin a similar price - quantities depend on the depth of the mould but you can add inert fillers to the resin mix to pad them out a little and stretch the resin a little further.

Also, once you're finished with the moulds, you can always sell them on eBay to recoup the initial outlay.

I watched both of the Scalecast instructional videos on using both plaster and resin. It looked relatively straightforward. I'll let you know what I decide to do and thanks for the offers.

A couple of short videos.
The first clip shows the Class 205 "Thumper" unit. Which obviously has a bad pick-up a the lights are flickering - had this been a SR Electric unit, it would have been fine - I remember in the early sixties the lights would often go out as we crossed the multitude of points outside Waterloo Station.

I am awaiting the Scalecast retaining wall moulds - then hopefully the Metcalfe retaining wall will be replaced with a more detailed wall - twenty four panels required :o

Really evocative Barry. Although the lights flickered the rear red light was steady.

Very atmospheric Barry - love these night-time scenes on your layout as the lighting is just spot-on...........thank goodness the lights were flickering and not on permanently, as I fear I would have been blinded by the reflection off the super-clean track - LOL.

A new addition to the Wykeham stable. It looks very nice, superbly packed by Hornby - we could have played Pass the Parcel for thirty minutes

Since seeing a Postman in one of glencairns photographs, I have been looking for one. Modelu have recently introduced a range of them (I only picked-up on it yesterday). So I ordered one at 10.50am yesterday, and would you believe it arrived in the post at 10.50am today. So top marks to Modelu and the Post Office for a first class service. Picture when painted and positioned. Still awaiting the painter.
